That agitated the crowd which must have disturbed the LSG dug-out to briefly halt proceedings and Klaasen lost his concentration to miss out on a well-deserved half-ton.
After a controversial reversal of no ball decision by the third umpire, the SRH fans in the stadium showed their frustrations at the LSG dugout. The SRH fans had reportedly thrown nuts and bolts at the LSG dugout. It led the LSG team members to escape and ran into the field and umpires were seen intervening.
The crowd was also heard chanting, “Kohli, Kohli” with Gambhir in the dugout.
Moments before LSG’s win, the team’s bowling coach Morne Morkel called Gambhir from behind and gestured him to break into a celebration and rub it in SRH’s face after those “Kohli” shouts. Gambhir along with Naveen-ul-Haq laughed.
Reacting on the crowd’s chants, SRH’s Klaasen condemned the act, “I’m disappointed with crowd to be honest, that’s not what you want at your home venue. You want people to want to play at your home venue so very disappointed. That broke a lot of momentum. Some not so great umpiring decisions being made but that’s part of the game and you have to get over it and go on with life.”
